Professional Development

Work assignments vary during the program and may be directed to any aspect of intellectual property law and any technological area and background, including patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, antitrust and unfair competition litigation; patent and trademark prosecution; structuring of licensing and joint venture agreements; and other IP issues that require legal analysis and counsel. As a summer associate, you work closely with partners and associates. You may research an important legal question one day, draft a motion on that issue the next, and accompany a partner to court for argument on that motion another day. Summer associates also assist with pro bono matters and in the drafting and publishing of articles. Assignments are designed to ensure that you work on an array of matters and develop a balanced portfolio of accomplishments by the conclusion of the program.
