Patent agents, scientific advisors and technical advisors are integral to our thriving patent practice. They provide critical technical expertise in evaluating issues that often arise in patent litigation, client counseling and opinions, and in preparing and prosecuting applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Scientific advisors typically hold Ph.D.s in science or engineering; and technical advisors have bachelor's or master's degrees in science or engineering. Morgan & Finnegan especially seeks individuals with backgrounds in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry and biotechnology-related sciences. An interest in pursuing a legal education is desirable, but not essential. Qualified applicants must be eligible to take the Patent Agent's Examination administered by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (See the USPTO web site for eligibility requirements).
